Their coat colors are gray with black and usually have a black face with black ears. They have a dense double coat. Their coat is straight, coarse and have a soft and woolly undercoat.
This breed is alert, friendly, dependable, trustworthy and independent.
The Norwegian Elkhound is a great pet with children and is a natural watchdog and guard dog, protecting its territory.
They need minimal grooming.
The Norwegian Elkhound typically will respond to commands. They do have a mind of their own and require firm training.
Elkhounds should be exercised at least one hour per day which can consist of a run or free play.
