Why Does My Dog Eat Grass?

I have had a couple people ask me if they should be “worried about their dog eating grass?” Well, if you are a person who treats your yard with chemicals, it can make your dog very sick, or even be fatal.  Alot of people think that a dog eats grass when it has an upset stomach, which is just a theory. A theory that if you ask me, is proven false by the fact that most dogs throw up after eating grass. But back to the question at hand, is it something to worry about? Yes, it is.

There are a number of concerns with a dog that eats alot of grass. First off, what is causing the dog to do this? It could be a change in health if it is an older dog. Or it is also thought that dogs inherited it from wolves. Wolves used to eat grass, and when they would throw it up afterwards, scientists believe it help purge parasites from the digestive tract. But all this is theory. The bottom line is, it is normal for dogs to eat grass. If you don’t want them to do it, train it out of them the same way you would any other unwanted behavior.
