Chickies Rock – Columbia, PA

Chickies is a great way to get plenty of exercise with your pooch. There are plenty of trails that vary in difficulty and views. One of the best trails is the one to Pinnacle. It is a fairly easy hike that takes 15 to 20 minutes depending on your energy level. The reward however, is utterly breath taking. It is a 60 foot cliff that looks over the Susquehanna River and York County. Be sure to keep your pup on a leash so they do not run off. Chickies has steep (sometimes surprising) drops that they may not see while running after a squirrel. If your pup wants to go for a swim afterward by taking a quick drive down there is a small Chickies Park that has access to a river. Just be sure to bring creek shoes for everyone!

Glen Highland Farm, NY

Okay, this one isn’t as close-by as the others, but Glen Highland Farm is a 175-acre vacation for you and your dog. It has plenty to entertain you, your furry friend, and the rest of the family. If your dog enjoys swimming they have a creek that is perfect for fetch and sun bathing. Part of the creek even has a small beach that is perfect for the whole family to build sandcastles or bury Dad. The farm also has a large pond with a fountain in the middle that offers floatation devices for two and four-legged campers as well as pool toys. If swimming isn’t your style there are plenty of barbeque pits, picnic areas, and hiking trails. The entire farm is leash free and offers cabins, RV parking, and camping.

Bushkill Falls, PA

The “Niagara of Pennsylvania,” Bushkill Falls is a beautiful destination for you and your pet. They have plenty of space for you to explore and play a game of fetch. Be sure to bring a leash and possible floatation devices for you and your pooch. Just in case anyone falls in!

Country Junction General Store – Lehighton, PA

It may seem like a peculiar destination but it can be the perfect place for your whole family. Country Junction has all of the regular supplies expected at a general store but also caters to your furry friends, too! With plenty of pet supplies, food, and toys your pooch can have it’s pick of the litter of tennis balls and treats. If you need to give them a trim or a scrub after a long hike they have a grooming center so you can take your friend home fresh and clean. Even with their own before and after shots.

Cherry Valley Vineyards – Cherry Valley, PA

While your pup may not be able to taste each wine with you they will definitely be able to appreciate the landscape and open spaces. While you enjoy artisanal pizza and a vintage vino your pooch will happily run around playing fetch or basking in the sun with the other visiting canines.
