  1. Labrador Retriever: This highly intelligent and energetic breed is the ideal family dog. They have a great temperament and can be easily trained into an obedient companion. America’s #1 dog!
  2. German Shepherd: The German Shepherd is widely used by Police and Military for a number of purposes. They also make good family dogs, but it is important to socialize them early with children.
  3. Yorkshire Terrier: The Yorkie is a small dog that is oblivious to its small size. They are energetic and clever, and make good family pets. Early establishment of pack order is important with this breed.
  4. Beagle: This sturdy and hardy little hound can run with the big dogs, but is a loving, sweet and gentle breed. If you can handle the “howl”, you will love this dog!
  5. Golden Retriever: This lovable, well mannered breed is easily trained, well mannered and energetic. They love the water, and are great at fetching that pesky newspaper when it is raining!
  6. Bulldog: While they may look a little intimidating, the Bulldog is a top choice for a “family dog”. They have a docile nature, and are great with children. Be careful not to over excerpt this breed, they have less stamina than most.
  7. Boxer: Get ready for tons of compliments, because the Boxer is one of the most majestic looking dogs around. But looks can be decieving, while they are very friendly, they are energetic and bubbly. This is a breed better suited for a young family that is active with the dog.
  8. Dachshunds: This small breed is clever, affectionate, proud, and brave. They require an owner with an understanding of how to establish pack order.
  9. Poodle: There are many different types of poodle to choose from, but the breed as a whole is a very popular choice.
  10. Shih Tzu: These sturdy little canines are packed with personality. Although small, they are very alert watchdogs, and make great family pets. They can be difficult to housebreak.
