Shih Tzu

A Shih Tzu is more than a dog, it is a lifetime companion. The Shih Tzu originated in China, known as the Lion Dog is a long hair energetic animal. The American Shih Tzu is slightly different from the original but that air of distinction is still there. Shih Tzu grows small and is covered all over their face with hair. When the hair is trimmed properly they look like distinguished Professors. The Shih Tzu has short legs with a body short in height and a little longer in length. They are low to the floor and many times they are carried by their owner, it is very much a lap dog. These dogs also love the company of other pets.

This dog traveling from the domicile of Asia is a lovely pouch. Shih Tzu’s are not shy and have an air of royalty about them. Showing your dog who is in charge can be a little tricky with the Shih Tzu. They are so adorable you want to give them their way. Chew toys are a good way to keep them from destroying your favorite shoes. These beautiful animals can become spoiled easily so be careful with your training. These dogs love attention and make great companions for the elderly; they can cuddle them and hold them. Quiet times are fine with this pet and play times are too. They are not heavy dogs, easy to walk and feed.

Books written about Dogs will tell you about the particulars of the Shih Tzu. They will tell you how to pronounce the name “Sheet-sue” and they will tell you what size they are. However the books will not tell you how smart they are or how they look out the window waiting for you to get home. They are very smart and love to be introduced to people and sometimes forget they are dogs. They play with little kids but are smart enough to know when it is time to hide and are smart enough to know not to come out of hiding. Books cannot tell you they are beautiful dogs and loving companions.
