Happy National Dog Day 2015!

man's best friendHappy National Dog Day everyone!

You know, it’s kinda fitting that right smack dab in the middle of what we commonly call the “Dog Days of Summer” that we have a day to actually pay tribute to Man’s (and Woman’s) Best Friend:)

This year represents the start of a new decade of National Dog Day, with the first one being August 6, 2004.   The purpose?  Simple…it’s a fun holiday for dog owners and dog lovers in general to celebrate their favorite pooches!  Take your dog on an extra long hike today…teach him or her a new trick…maybe buy them a new toy!

Heck…get a bunch of your dog owner and dog lover friends together with all your dogs and have a bark-a-licious dog party tonight.  Dogs are always there for us…they greet us with wagging tail and walking on their hind legs when we get home, snuggle up next to us just when we really need it and man, do they make hiking and being outdoors more fun:)

Life can be sooo hectic sometimes and it’s important for us to make time to smell the proverbial roses.   Our dogs take time to smell the roses and everything else each and every time they’re outside looking for a place to do their business.   Maybe we could learn a little something by spending a little more time with them.

By the way, if you wonder what the origin of the term “Dog Days of Summer” is, check out our 2014 Dog Days post explaining it.
