With the first day of spring right around the corner, it is time to start thinking about the wonderful, and concerning things that come with the change of a season. Here are some things to be aware of with the new season:

• If you have taken your dog off off Heart Worm Meds for the winter, or you just got a new puppy, consult your Vet about what you need to do to get your puppy protected.
• If you aren’t already doing so, make sure you consult your vet about putting your dog on Front line or some other product to protect them from Fleas and ticks.
• Keep an eye on the condition of your puppy’s coat and any bare skin, spring is a prime time to start to recognize the presence of allergies in your dog.
• Make sure you are cleaning up any left over debris, rock salt, anti-freeze, or any other hazardous materials that may be present in areas accessible to your dogs and children!
• This one goes without saying, but over the winter months, with the snow, sleet and other harsh weather conditions, dog feces has a tendency to accumulate whether we try to keep after it or not. This is bad for a couple of reasons. First off, dog feces can be host to a number of bacterias and diseases, most of which can be passed from dog to dog, and some even from dog to human! Secondly, we don’t want our children taking a stinky step in the wrong place and then coming inside for some Kool-Aid, yuck! And lastly, your neighbors won’t be inviting you to many BBQs if they are offended by the odor coming from your yard, FAIL! So grab the Pooper-Scooper and do the dirty deed, ha ha.
