3 Dog Breeds that Hate Winter!

There are many dogs that absolutely love winter, from the Akita to the Chow Chow to the Alaskan Malamute. Yet for every dog that loves winter weather – the snow, the cold, the ice – there are three that absolutely hate it! If you live in a colder climate, you’ll want to keep an eye out for these breeds when you’re choosing a dog to adopt and raise, as they may be very unhappy in the weather that you live in; on the other hand, if you’re someone who hates winter weather too, then one of these breeds will be for you, as they’ll hate just as hard right alongside you!

  1. The Pug

The Pug has numerous congenital problems owing to its breeding; even when you go through a reputable breeder, there is still the potential for problems, such as with their eyes, which are rather, well, bug-eyed. During the winter this can be an issue for the dog as the cold on such a huge surface volume of eye is potentially dangerous!

  1. The Chihuahua

The Chihuahua is a classic “shaker,” always shivering, which is why you see it dressed up in sweaters more often than any other breed. While this is usually nerves, this can also sometimes be sheer cold, in which case the Chihuahua needs to seek heat asap – making it even more apt to be a “lap dog” in both name and deed! As you can imagine, in the winter, the problem of being so small and thin and having such a thin coat is exacerbated.

  1. Corgi

The corgi is remarkably cute, owing in part to its short legs, long body, and big head – it’s everything you need to identify the dog as just the cutest little thing! However, in winter, when the snow has piled up to a foot or more, it’s real tough on a corgi – they end up having to walk head-deep in snow all the time! As you can imagine… that gets old real fast.
