Fox Terrier Puppies

Fox Terriers are independent little dogs with a sense of humor and insatiable curiosity. There are two types of fox terriers, the Smooth Fox Terrier and the Wire Fox Terrier. The main difference between the two is coat type and head shape.

General personality

Fox Terriers are considered to be the most energetic of all of the terrier breeds. They are sturdy little dogs with a generally friendly and playful nature. They are good companion dogs and very good with older children who will keep them entertained. They are boundless in energy, have a talent for mischief and immensely loyal companions. Fox Terriers also make loyal watchdogs.

Physical Requirements

Fox Terriers need a lot more living space than their little size would suggest. These are not apartment dogs. They need to stay physically active and mentally stimulated. They well at a just about any physical activity such as chasing a ball or catching a Frisbee, and will do it tirelessly for hours. If not kept physically active, they will dig or display other potentially destructive behaviors.

Grooming needs for this breed are high; this is not a wash- and-wear dog. While Wire Fox Terriers do not shed, Smooth Fox Terriers do. However the coat on the Wire Fox Terrier needs to be hand-stripped 2 to 3 times a year to keep it in good condition. Regular trimming and twice weekly brushing and combing are a must. The Smooth Fox Terrier needs slightly less attention than the wire fox terrier.
